Top UK Poker Tournaments

Poker in the United Kingdom is one of the fastest growing popular games. This game is now witnessing a renaissance of the best kind. People all over the country relish playing poker for many reasons. The primary reason for this game to such an extent was poker is the game of skill and easy adaptability of the game rules, but sure it takes a lifetime to master all the strategies and ways to play and win. It’s advisable to have some prior experience before one starts playing actual play.

England is concerned with poker especially the Texas Hold’em variety. Wide range of tournaments are available in the country from Chestington to London. The following are the tournaments famous these days in the UK.

Ice Man Festival South end

This festival was continued from 2nd to 6th of 2006 at Rendezvous Casino at the Kursaal, Southend-on-Sea. There were 49 entries for the £12,250 total pool prize and 1st prize winner Timmy Mann was awarded with £3,025. The starting buy-in was £250 for the Limited Hold’em Pot.

January Sales

This was an event that took place at Rendezvous Casino, Eastern Esplanade, Southend-on-Sea from 12th to 18th January 2004. It was a Pot-Limit 7-Card Stud game with £100 + £5 as buy-in for the £100 + £5 prize pool. Joe Grech walked over with the first prize beating 47 players and was awarded with  £4,280.

Steel City Cup Poker Festival

This event was taken place from 15th to 18th of February 2006 at Napoleons Owlerton Casino, Sheffield. There were 42 players competed for the  £42,000 prize pool with £1,000 buy-in in the No-Limit Hold’em as main event, and the winner was Simon Nowab who has taken away £14,700 as the first place winner.

Brighton Festival of Poker

This event was held on 15th of February 2006 at Grosvenor Casino, Brighton where John Hull won the first place and walked over with £2,770 from the £7,910 prize fall. He has defeated 64 entries in this No-Limit Hold'em Rebuy Unlimited 90 mins play with £50 + £5 buy-ins.

Midlands Medley

This event was held from 20th to 26th of February 2006 at Grosvenor Casino, Walsall.  It was a No Limit Hold’em for the 82 + 29 rebuy entries with £1,000 + £25 for £111,000 total prize pool;£40,700 winner and also the champion of this tournament was Paul Maxfield.

European Poker Classic

This took place at Grosvenor Victoria Casino from 18th to 26th of March 2006. It was a No-Limit Hold’em match as main event for £379,500 as total prize pool with £1,500 + £50 buy-in. John Kabbaj was the winner of the game, awarded with £135,000 and defeated 253 players.

Springfest

This festival was held at Grosvenor Casino, Luton from 3rd to 9th of April 2006, and the winner is Lalit Khajuria as he defeated 130 players and walked over with £31,260. It was a No-Limit Hold'em type game for £96,000 total prize pool with £750 + £30 buy-in.

Blackpool Bonanza

It was held from 1st to 7th of May 2006 at Grosvenor Casino "The Sandcastle" Blackpool and it was No-Limit Hold'em type of game. Mr. Malik was the winner of both championships and £12,040 who faced the competition from 118 players and £500 + £25 as buy-in.

South of England Championship

Was held at Grosvenor Casino, Southampton from the 28th to 30th of May 2006. There were 54 player contested for the £10,800 with £200 + £20 as buy-in. Mr. Gooda was the winner of this year’s championship with £3,000.

Midlands Meltdown

It was held at Grosvenor Casino, Walsall from 5th to 11th of June 2006. The winner of this tournament was Brian Welby who won an amount of £1,830 out of £4,600 total pool prize. There were 31 + 15 rebuy players competed with £100 + £10 as buy-in.

Newcastle Knockout Festival

It was held at Grosvenor Casino, Newcastle from 20th to 23rd July 2006. The winner was Russell Taylor who walked away with £1,510. It was Pot-Limit Omaha game type with £100 + £10 as buy-in for £4,200 total pool prize and 42 players in the play over all.
