Gabriel Xiourouffa and Nick Sutar Make Merry |
The stage is set for great action and the crowd at the Aussie Millions Mega Tournament in Melbourne is experiencing just about that. The Aussie Million Poker Mega Tournament in Melbourne kick started in a terrific way, leaving everyone spellbound.
Gabriel Xiourouffa clinched the title of Event #1 Championship, along with a cash prize of $139,047. Some superb late night play with some serious bluffing typically characterized the annual Aussie Millions Championship in Melbourne here on Sunday. Many players have already tasted the success by winning seats into the $10,500 Main Event through satellite tournaments. The crowd erupted and the heat was on, there was everything to pay for.
More than 450 players are participating in this Aussie Million Poker Championship, which has a whopping prize pool of $4.7 million, and no wonder there are also some verbal exchanges taking place between the players. In Event #1, it was Gabriel Xiourouffa broke the tournament’s ice by winning the inaugural title. Xiourouffa went into the final hand with a 2-1 chip lead over Zhi Hong Ma.
In the final hand, Xiourouffa held an A-K to one-up Ma's K-J and took home the title along with a cash prize of $139,047. |

| In the Event #2, it was Nick Sutar’s chance to turn the tide. This has really come in as surprise since this event featured some of the poker’s big names including Jesse Jones, J.J. Liu, Mel Judah, Scott Fischman, Shannon Elizabeth, etc.
At the final table, it was Nick Sutar who flopped 2 pair over Billy "The Crock" Argyros and walked away with $54,718, upsetting the legends and local heroes. |
