Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa was home to spectacular Poker, as over 620 players locked horns against each other at the start of the $1,000 Buy-In No-Limit Tournament. The atmosphere was as exhilarating as ever and a Friday at the Borgata was what everybody were looking forward to.
The event center bloomed with enthusiastic Poker players competing against each other. The $750 buy-in event resumed on the second day and 619 players were filtered to ten players and Jose Gomez of New York walked away with the honors and got richer by $129,386. This was his first main event championship at the Borgata Winter Open.
The competition was supposedly tough with big names in the fray, but players fell like a pack of cards and Leonard Cortellino was the lone guy who gave some competition to Gomez. Jose Gomez had the last laugh and Cortellino had to be happy with the second place. He helped himself with $71,262 of prize money.
Incidentally, Cortellino started the day in the third place with 356,000 in chips and Gomez started the day in sixth place. He rejoiced the occasion with his family and friends, and had this to say, "I felt confident starting the day (in sixth place at start of the day), and just happy I was able to win."
Ronnie Kevin was placed third and said, "I did not get any cards for a while, but I did okay at the final table and was able to take third.” Sunday will be an action-packed day, as the $260+ $40 ladies event will get underway and is sure to provide awesome entertainment for passionate Poker players. The action will start at 11:00 AM and some the best Women Poker Players will take their seats to give their best shot.
