All eyes of the poker world were on Bellagio Tournament where Joe Hachem claimed his first World Poker Tour Event. More importantly, it was the prize money of $2.1 million that caught everyone’s attention.
This event almost attracted close to 230 players generating total cash prize pool of $1,161,300, but things started to change at 2 PM the other side of the country on the same day where the final table of the $5,000 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Event at Harrah’s Atlantic City also took place.
The expectations were huge on several players, but it was not easy for any one of the final table members who came to that stage. All the 9 players were battling up for the top prize of $386,096, and they were found to sit at the final tables with the following chip counts.
What’s the funny part is that the total career prize money of all these players, which would come around to ($262,922) couldn’t even match the prize money. It was only Chan who had the best history on the tournament trail, winning $193,219 in his lifetime major tournaments he participated.
Rossetti won $38,752 and Bernstein had less than $20,000, but none of the players had a big win in this major tournament. Eventually, Rossetti ended up winning the tournament. He came from a long way behind and went on to claim the title.
