Toronto Poker Club was as usual very busy with the players buzz. It was in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, that this social-club poker game experienced a robbery attempt. Everything went awry, when cops responded to a phone call and has quickly spotted the robbers' fleeing van.
Two masked men cruised their way into the club, in the wee hours on Wednesday. Eye witnesses were saying that there was another man waiting for them at the gateway van behind the club.
Official sources say that around 20 players were taking part in the overnight game at the prestigious Toronto's Thornhill Club, when this instance took place.
The police responded quickly to a phone call, stepped in and took control of the situation. The two masked men, reportedly 'roughed up' the players while relieving the game of its cash and valuables.
In the meantime, one of the players have managed to alert police, who, in the end, responded in time to see the van leaving the area.
Police identified the trailing van, and has gestured it to pull down. Just for a second, it appeared that the van would slow down, but eventually, before speeding away. So a high speed chase has ensured that the van was trapped and was under the police control.
One of the van’s passengers rolled, down a window and opened fire towards the cops. Later, the police broke off the chase and have trapped the van. However, reports say that neither the officers nor vehicles were hit.
Eventually, cops have traced the van, and have identified the persons. They have arrested 2 persons shortly after the incident, and the third one was arrested around noon at the Toronto's London suburb.
The three persons were identified as Omar Jermaine Betty, 25, Ryan Shields, 26, and Ezra Lottery, 21. Crime authorities say that there are almost 125 charges between them, including attempted murder, armed robbery and forcible confinement. The 3 persons would be submitted to court in the next week.
