Tobey Maguire |
Tobey during his childhood dreamed of becoming a cook, but in contrast, his mother forced him to purse a career in acting, so he started working on acting slowly by appearing in dramas and concerts in the school. He later got good roles in commercials, which led to a starring turn in the short-lived 1992 sitcom Great Scott. The coming year, he made his film debut in This Boy's Life, which starred Robert De Niro and a very young Leonardo Di Caprio. After that he drew several people's attention for his famous role in Oscar-nominated short The Duke of Groove, in which he co-starred with Uma Thurman in 1995. In 1997, he worked with 2 reputed directors on big projects including The Ice Storm. The year 1998 turned out to be another good one when he played the role of a teenager in the highly acclaimed Pleasantville.

He also made a cameo appearance in the film Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. With his film juggernaut continuing, he was able to accomplish all the lead roles and became as one of the worthwhile young actors in the industry. He is also a good writer, which in a way helped him to receive many directors’ attention. Some of them include Sam Raimi, who eventually directed the role of Peter Parker and went on to become the web-spinning hero of Spider-Man.
This film received many accolades and broke many box-office records with the opening over 110 millions dollars. This eventually separated Tobey Maguire from his mainstream status as Leonardo Di Caprio’s basketball buddy into a mega star in his own right. In the year 2004, Maguire returned to his role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2 thereby successfully finishing the contract in Spider-Man 3. He was engaged to Rashida Jones in the year 2002.
He strongly felt the need of learning the poker game and started learning it. He did not hit the poker world by creating sensation, but has done enough and finished 15th out of 247 players in the NLH at the Mirage Poker Showdown winning $5,271.
