About Him

Jamie Gold is a Los Angeles, Caliphs-based television producer who started to play poker in a competitive surrounding with his poker-playing mother and grandfather, a Gin Rummy Champion.

He completed his bachelor's degree from the University of New York at Albany where he graduated with honors. Then Jamie moved to California to study entertainment law at UCLA in 1991. In New York City at the age of 16, Jamie immediately found work in LA, as a talent agent. He soon became known as the youngest franchised agent in the business. At 25, he started his own firm, JMG Management. Then, he was working as a television producer full-time.

In his recent production, he has featured 2003 WSOP Main Event Champion Chris Moneymaker and 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan who has given Jamie poker tips and tutorials while they played with him and finally, Jackie came out successful. After becoming a member of Bodog.com, Jamie entered the 2006 WSOP Main Event. He even wiped his fellow celebrities at the tables throughout the event and reached the final. He played confidently his chips for the last 4 days of play, continuously increasing his chip stack at the expense of several more seasoned players including Allen Cunningham. Now, the latest news is that Jamie had signed a 2 year endorsement and production contract with his WSOP 2006 sponsor, Bodog.com.

Poker Career

This television producer started his career in cards all because of the interest developed by his poker-playing mother and grandfather, a champion in his time. Now, he can add Las Vegas to his list of conquests. His winings did earn him access to one of the most exclusive clubs around, the few who own a World Championship bracelet of their own. Jamie Gold required no need of any Hollywood’s help. He brought his own success story and drama to the final table. He entered poker just because of the confidence and his insight.

When he stepped into Hollywood agent business, he represented many talented actors including James Gandolfini and Felicity Huffman.  Yes, if you remember Johnny Chan who was represented by Jamie is the one who holds 10 World Series of Poker bracelets and is known to have huge fans all over the world as one of the most dangerous and talented players ever to pick up a deck of cards.

Well, his encounter at the table with Chan was indeed good and for a long time Chan washed him very badly. Yes, never to lose the hope and learning from this failure Gold proceeded to dominate the final event in 2006 WSOP. Last year, it was Joe Hachem. This year, it was the chip leader Jamie Gold who proved how to use mind game and patience to win the day.

Winning is a habit! .....All the Tourneys he played!

This July, you saw his truly action-packed final table. Gold has no single rule to play. His playing style changes with the mood swing of his opponent players. Gold made some well-timed bluffs and even took help from the cards in this match, which is why the success knocked his door. Jamie was able to put on the bracelet, he had worked so hard to earn after eliminating Paul Wasicka. That was impossible indeed and become this year's World Champion of Poker. In a short Q&A session after the match, Gold talked a bit about his experience at the WSOP this year.
