In the year 2005, Hachem saw his friend winning a trip and an entry into PokerStars. This prompted him to play poker seriously. Joseph Hachem is a 39-year-old Lebanon-born professional player currently living in Australia. He is the new World Champion of Poker. Incidentally, this was his first victory in the World Series of Poker Event, though was associated with poker since a decade.
He was struggling with a short stack for most of the final table until finally he got a fortunate break against Aaron Kanter who limped-in on the button, and literally went on to raise $1 million. Then Hachem moved all-in. At this particular point of time, eventually lost his hand perhaps least speaking would have been in the 4th place. But luck favoured Joseph and he was calling all the shots right that night well and truly belonged to Joseph. The flop came giving him a pair of queens and since then he hasn’t turned back.
He slowly but surely tactically built his stack and later he turned out to be the chip leader for the heads-up play against the rival Steven Dannenmann. Believe it, it took only 6 hands for him to win against Dannenmann for all the remaining chips. Since then, he hasn’t turned back, and he went on the claim the World’s most coveted position by winning the WSOP Event, claiming the prize money $7,500,000 and received accolades from his colleagues. |
