Table selection is the first significant decision for any player at the beginning of the poker game. Selecting a particular position at the poker table is very simple; you need to choose the table where you can gain maximum edge. May one is the top player in the world, but to hold the edge it is necessary to play on different tables and modify the style of the game.
And if the player is the loose player then it is not necessary to choose the weak table and play with the weak players only. Loose players playing at the skilled table helps them to learn all the tactics needed to be pros in the game and gain double on each lose later.
Good players choose to be at loose player so as to easily have hands on huge pots and it assures the winning. But to maintain the edge and to expertise the game, it is essential to select the table where you get the chance to learn new as well as you take the opportunity to implement the learned skills and called to be the perfect winner.
Both loose players and good players should select the table considering their capabilities and the table where they have enough possibilities of winning.
Three important aspects that are needed to be looked after while selecting the table:
1. Number of players on the table i.e percentage of players who see the flop in Hold'em, Omaha, and in 7-Card Stud.
2. Size of the pot i.e the amount of money in the pot.
3. Kinds of players in the game i.e. whether the players in the game are weak, good, or excellent.
Well, this all needs to be estimated before starting the game in land-based casinos, but it is easy to make out criteria in online poker game. In online game, average pot size and percentage of players can be viewed in lobby side column to the respective game.
Among these 3 aspects, the best criteria to consider is percentage of player to see the flop. Percentage of players indicates whether the game is loose or tight game. In online game, one can just see the lobby and decide whether to go to the table or move on to other table.
In Limit Texas Hold'em, the table should consist of at least 30% of the players seeing the cards at the flop and more the player more loose is the game. And the second aspect that is important is average pot size. Average pot size is at least 10 times the size of the small blind.
Third and the last aspect is the kinds of player. It is important to know about the player whether player is tight or loose player. If the player is weak then it is suggested to sit to the left of the dealer so that you play better and know their actions.
