2006 NPA Tour Invitational is a poker tournament, which was held from 11th September to 22nd September, 2006, at the Hollywood Park Casino, Inglewood, CA. The tournament was conducted under the supervision of Wade Mezey , the President and COO of the NPA Tour.
The new NPA Tour Event has become famous for its high-stake games. Poker players from different corners of the world participated in the event. The turn out at the Hollywood Park Casino on September 11, 2006, was very high, and the organization was perfect. The event was very well-managed and was considered to be the best event of 2006-2007 session of the poker world. And above all , the main attraction of this tournament was a high guaranteed prize pool of $2 million.
According to the organizers, the main objective of
organizing the event was to bring together all the deserving players who are really rich in poker talent, but had been deprived of the right opportunity to show their skills. The tour has been successful in fulfilling the desires of many poker fans of Inglewood. It gave emphasis on high-stake games, which attracted a lot of professional players. Although, it comprised of very limited seats. There had been 300 qualifying players in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event.
Hollywood Park Casino has also organized many qualifier tournaments for the participation in the Main Event. All the top players who had been in the top 200 list in CardPlayer or Bluff Magazine were also included o win a seat to the Main Event.
More than 25 events were conducted in the tournament, which included $200 to $1000 No-Limit Hold’em Events, $5,000 Mixed Game, a 32 player $5,000 Chinese Poker
Event, and the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event.
This tour added a lot of extra prize money and completed its tour with the best players. Although, it ended up on September 21, 2006. The president of NPA Tour, Wade Mezey was quite happy with his efforts. He explains, “although there had been lots of poker events that were televised regularly where anyone can buy their way in without regard for their standing as a player. We recognized the true sportsmanship spirit, sports nature of poker, and all that this game requires to have a sport's stature by putting its best players on the road in an exciting series of events.”
The NPA tour was indeed all about the real poker skills, excitement, and achievement.
