World championship of online poker is conducted by Pokerstars and is one of the best poker championship events. The tournament has seen much action since it began in 2002. The championship has attracted lots of expert players since its inception.
WCOOP 2006
Pokerstars World Championship of Online Poker 2006 began on September 14, 2006 and will end on October 1, 2006.
WCOOP 2006 includes 18 events and will run for 16 days. This year also, it has included the usual poker varieties – Razz, Holdem, Omaha, and 7-Card stud is the HORSE event. The HORSE event will be a $5,200 buy-in and will be hosted by Barry Greenstein.
WCOOP 2005
The WCOOP 2005 had the three final players going home with more than half a million dollars. The event set a new highest tournament prize of $12,783,900 in prize money. It was one of the top three Poker Championship events of the year. Panell86 emerged as the winner with a record prize of $577,342.
WCOOP 2004
WCOOP 2004 was in all ways the most grand event in the history of online poker. The single event of No-Limit Holdem Championship Tournament generated a prize pool of $2.1 million.
WCOOP 2004 saw the highest number of main event players of any Poker Championships. Players turned out from all 50 US states and over 40 countries. Many world poker champs from different poker events like the WSOP and WPT competed at this prestigious event. About 10,000 players participated in the main event with 20,000 satellite players and a record $6 million in prize payouts.
