One of the most popular and toughest European Poker Tournaments. Ladbrokes Poker Million was first launched in 2000. The first Ladbrokes Poker Million event was a televised event and was held in the Hilton Hotel on the Isle of Man. The tournament has been improving in reputation and in the total prize money year by year.

Ladbrokes Poker Million (2006)

Ladbrokes Poker Million 2006 is bigger and better than all the previous championship events, and shows why it is the best and most challenging European Poker Tournament. The Ladbrokes Poker room continues to add a $1.0 million to the prize pool and the first prize winner is expected to take home $1,200,000.

Europe’s largest prize pool counts to a $4,120,000 in cash prizes and  $2,440,000 in the televised tournament with $1,200,000 to the winner and $1,680,000 in cash prizes in the online Weekly Final Tournaments.

The Ladbrokes Poker Million (2006) Rules

71 qualifiers will be determined over 4 months through different qualifying tournaments. These players will compete in London. The 72 player for this televised event is the winner of the televised celebrity heat. The semifinals for the championship take place in London on December 13-14, 2006. The top 3 finishers in each of the semifinals will then compete in the final event on 15th December, which will be telecasted live on Sky Sports.

Ladbrokes Million Event (2003)

The Ladbrokes Million Event was screened in 2003 with a name “Poker Million - The Masters and had a surprise winner, Jimmy White. The entry to the tournament was $10,000 and had celebrities, poker champions competing for the big prize. White was a snooker player who showed a great play and attitude to knock of many experienced champions. Joe Beevers, Bruce Atkinson, Tony Bloom, and Steve Davis were some of the players White outplayed to win the highest share of $350,000 prize pool.

The presence of celebrities made the event a great success  than the previous event - Sam Torrence and Barr Hearn.

What makes a televised poker event more special and fun is the fact that the viewers will get a first hand account and are able to watch the players cards and follow their strategies.

Ladbrokes Million Event (2004)

The Ladbrokes event of 2004 raised the bar even further with just the first prize being the sum of $300,000. The excitement was more and so was the number of celebrities participating in the event. The reigning champion from Ladbroker Poker Million – The Masters - Jimmy White enjoyed his second event alongside sportsmens like Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams, and  Mike Tindall.

The growth of online poker since the previous year and the growing interest in poker generally since the historic win of Chris Moneymaker at the WSOP 2003 championship was very obvious in the number of players at 2004 Poker Million who qualified for the tournament through Online Satellite Tournaments at Ladbrokes.

About half of the participants and more importantly, half the players at the final table were players who qualified online. Jon Backman, Nicholas Barbu, and Frederick Richardson competed with top names from the poker world.

Ladbrokes  Poker Million (2005)

The  Poker Million of 2005  posed a tougher challenge to the players with  Ladbrokes adding $1.25 million to the prize pool and a guaranteed first prize of $1,000,000. In a very exciting final, Tony Jones emerged as the Champion of Ladbrokes Poker Million 2005 by beating TV celebrity Helen Chamberlain.

Tony Jones took home  $1,000,00;the highest single player winnings of the Poker Million Championship of 5 years.
