Los Angeles Annual Poker Tournament

Los Angeles Annual Tournament

In Los Angeles, the Jewish Big Brothers and Big Sisters Event “ante-up”, which is recognized as a non-profit mentoring agency in South California has become the host to “ a full house” for the 3rd Annual Poker Tournament. The JBBBSLA CEO is Margy Feldman who organized with the help of their board of members, mentors, and agents for the welfare of underprivileged childrens. It received its name in the year 1951. Basically, this organization helps children and aims in pairing them up with an adult mentor by conducting various matches and programs. It also has its own residential summer camp where they organize scholarship, arts and sports programs for the children who are deprived of being served by anyone. Its camp is called as Camp Max Straus, which volunteers nearly 1000 children. There is a good staff to take care of them.

So for these children, Los Angeles is taking the pride and privilege to arrange such a tournament that takes place annually. So far the tournament has been the most exciting event for the people of Los Angeles. It was on 7th September, 2006, at Hollywood Park Casino in the evening hours at around 6:30 PM players among the finalists got the chance to win a seat to the World Poker Tour.

The tournament included No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament. The selection was based on the “ante-up" chance .The winner won a cash award of $5,000. He also won a $10,000 buy-in at the World Poker Tour. There had been a lot of fun with wonderful dinners served. Again, the other intention it carried was to develop more and more poker fans at Los Angeles. There had been "buy-in" over $200, which promised to double their winning chance. The top 10 finishers are awarded cash prizes. A car was also prized to a winner in the "Royal Flush Giveaway." Almost around 1,800 children are directly benefited from this organization's programs and services that take place annually. The final event ended on Saturday, 23rd September 2006 at around 12:45 PM.

The winner of this year was Todd Pianin, so he takes the pride of this charity tournament. He also wins a seat to WPT.

Not only Pianin won a seat to WPT, but also he was allowed to have his own choice of the WPT seat worth $10,000, or $5,000 in cash. The top 10 finishers also received cash prizes.

The $200 buy-in event did raise about $70,000 for the JBBLA, which will benefit more than 1,800 Los Angeles childrens through the hardship this organization underwent by conducting many programs.
