About Kathy Liebert

Kathy was raised in Poughkeepsie, New York. It was here that she took admission into the Marist College in Poughkeepsie to complete her bachelor's degree. Her keen acumen to understand business landed her in a job of an analyst. As a change, she also worked in the Stock Market for some time, but as the monotony of a regular job started sinking in, she decided to leave the job.

As a chance happening, the next job she took was that of a prop (someone who is suppose to keep the game of poker going). It was here that through a chance conversation the idea of playing a professional poker settled in, and she decided to take it for sure.

Poker Career

Defining Moments in her Career

Kathy came into the limelight when she won herself a first place in the Party Poker Million.  Here, she won exactly $1,000,000, but quite unwillingly had to share half of the money with other poker greats. She had a strange deal with Berj Kacherian and Phil Hellmuth, the second and third place winners due to which she had to part with the booty.

Kathy happens to be the first woman to win a first prize in a major tournament and first woman to win a $1 million tournament. Her rankings in the World Series Of Poker winnings list for women stands at modest fifth.

In 2004, for finishing at first position, she won her  first WSOP Bracelet at a Limit Hold’em Shootout. She made her presence felt in the Omaha Hi Lo event at 2003 poker derby. She also appeared to the final table in the World Poker Tours Bicycle Casino, Aruba and Ladies night invitational events.

Kathy is a professional poker player, silent, concentrated and would never utter a word without a need. That is why, she has earned the respect of who’s who in the poker world. She is considered to be a ruthless player and hell-bent determined to give other professional poker players a tough run for their money.
