About Melissa Hayden

Currently, Melissa is ranked 353 on the all time list of poker players. She stands at the respected 10th place on the all women’s poker list of money. She is credited with 5 first place finishes till date. Her tournament win is more than $600,000, which is rather impressive by any standards.

Melissa is considered to be a vocalist. She will not hesitate to speak her mind and sometimes comments on peoples' play. She is also considered to be a very aggressive player. Once while participating in a tournament, she commented on a player’s style. This put the player really off. When the altercation started, Melissa just backed out saying, "ok your game is better than mine, now does that makes you happy?" Ideally, that should have put an end to the altercation then and there itself, but it didn’t happen that way. When the other guy didn’t stop whining, Melissa had no choice and she hurled some unladylike expletive. Finally, it was Negreanue who came and resolved the issue.

Poker Career

Her Major Achievements

In the 2001 World Series of Poker, $5,000 Limit Holdem. The winner of this tournament was Hemish Shah from England. Other players who participated in the event were “The Shamrock Kid” (Tom McCormick), “Rabbit” (Robert Blechman), “Balroc” (Jan Syavik), and “Captain” Tom Franklin.

Although, Melissa didn’t figure in the first five, she still got the money and made a name for herself. She was locked with Blechman. Melissa flopped a set of 7s and bet all-in on the river, but lost to Blechman’s nut flush. She was very upset when Blechman told the table that the first player was out before he showed his cards, an A-3 of clubs.
