About Susie Isaacs

Her inclination towards poker happened at an early age of 4. This was when her cousins made her guard them from their parents while they themselves played poker. Her eagerness to earn some money through the game materialized when she sold her comic book collection for $2.35.

But it was not until 1986, when she moved to Las Vegas, she was exposed to much wider poker world. Once there, it didn’t take her long to realize that her poker skills were relatively weak.

Her next mission was then to improve on her playing skills, which she did by hiring a tutor who would teach her poker strategies. This went on for 2-3 months. In the mean time, Susie read lots of books on poker strategies. Only when she was ready with her knowledge base and fundamentals, she decided to play in the bigger tournaments.

Her major achievements came in the year 1996 when she became the first woman to win the Ladies' Championship of the World Series of Poker. As if this was not enough, she achieved the same feat again in 1997. She was the only otheR woman who was placed as high as 10th in the WSOP Main Event in 1998 behind by just another female candidate.

She is very avid contributor of poker related articles in various magazines and online portals. Her articles in the Poker Player Newspaper have delighted poker fans since quite some time now. With over 300 articles to her credit in various poker publications, she has shared her victories and insights over the years with her loving and avid fans.

She has also authored a book called MsPoker: Up Close and Personal. It’s a book, a trilogy covering her poker strategies, her personal story, and a series of stories about the people of the world of poker. Leading her way onto the poker circuit, she has nurtured a dream, which includes seeing competitive poker received an approval from the general public. She would also love to see more and more women brushing their shoulders in this competitive world of poker basically dominated by men.
