Ciaran O’Leary’s performance was ordinary up to the 2007 World Series of Poker. In fact, for 6 of the 10 years prior to the 2007 World Series of Poker, Ciaran O'Leary failed to make any cash. It’s only in the 2007 WOSP, which is the prestigious and coveted tournament, he finally made his mark. His persistence has finally paid off.

He has outplayed the 3rd largest field in the history of World Series of Poker, trailing just the 2005 and 2006 championships, to win his first gold bracelet and $727,000.As many as 3000 players took part in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event, but it was Ciaran O’Leary, (nicknamed as “Big C”) eventually pulled out a win. After the emphatic triumph, O’Leary’ thanked plenty of lucky breaks for his victory. He said “I'm very humbled as well,” he told PokerListings.com. “I know the game still has a lot to teach me, so I look forward to it.”
