ESPN WSOP

In a historic tie-up, ESPN telecasted the 2006 World Series of Poker that began on July 18, 2006 to October 31, 2006. The WSOP Event was covered by more than 20 cameras and 10 pocket cameras incorporated in the Final table. ESPN had also telecasted the WSOP Final Table live through a Pay Per View Model.

WSOP Bracelet Winners

The 2006 World Series of Poker includes as many as of 45 tournament events. Some of them are the most popular Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Pot-Limit, 7-Card Stud Hi-Lo, Razz, Lowball, etc. All the winners were felicitated with a Prestigious Gold Bracelet. The Final Championship Event winner was honored as World Champion. The Total Prize money prevailed the supremacy of the winner with this most prestigious Championship Event.

There are also other events drawing the attention of several players with a Euphoric Prize Money nearing $1,000,000. The winner of each tournament gets not merely a good pay, but also a beautiful bracelet as a memento. Over thousands of poker enthusiasts gather at the Las Vegas to play and witness this event.

During the past five years, this Main Event was mainly dominated by the Americans namely Robert Varkonyi, Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer, and a few others. But most interesting fact is that none of them were skilled or seasoned professionals. In fact, many winners at the WSOP Main Event had neither any prior poker experience nor live card room knowledge, but majority of them have qualified for this prestigious event through satellites.

Having said that, all these players are meticulous and determined players backed by the zeal to win and augment their poker skills. They have lead by example by taking chances at the appropriate time and were successful. It’s not all luck.

Many people opine that this mega event is all about luck and indeed this is developing into a category of game of chances and not providing any assistance whatsoever for the pros to win the title. But these winners stand as an example for everyone holding firm that winning is not all about luck or lottery. It involves a lot of consistency and promise. They went on to win many tournaments including the European Poker Tour, World Poker Tour, etc.
