Kunihiro Sakamoto to Take Part in the WSOP Presented by Milwaukee’s Best Light

Kunihiro Sakamoto is all set to compete in the Main Event at the 2007 WSOP this month at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas. This was announced by Harrah’s License Company, when Kunihiro Sakamoto won the inaugural All-Japan Poker Championship sponsored by SEGA SAMMY Group, where Sakamoto overcame more than 1900 players.

This All-Japan Poker Championship tournament was also co-organized by the newspaper Yukan Fuji, with a prime intention to raise money and benefit “The Sankei-Shimbun Social Welfare Association,” a charitable organization that is completely devoted to the advancement of socio-cultural affairs.

Michael Chen, president of Harrah's Asia-Pacific Region, said “We are delighted by the opportunity to not only introduce one of our premier entertainment brands to the Japanese consumer, but support a worthy charitable cause in the process. This tournament represents but a small sign of our company’s ongoing commitments to expand our presence in Asian markets, particularly Japan.”

He further said "We are proud to have the winner of the All-Japan Poker Championship, participate in our event” said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the World Series of Poker and vice president of sports and entertainment for Harrah’s. This event is an important first step for us in Asia and we look forward to further introducing the world’s most prestigious poker brand to this vibrant market.“

Harrah’s Entertainment, established in Nevada, USA, almost 70 years ago, is reckoned to be the biggest operator of casino entertainment resorts in the world managing 50 casino resorts on four continents. Harrah’s (which also owns and operates the London Clubs International family of casinos and the World Series of Poker tournament) properties operate mainly under the Caesars, Harrah’s, and Horseshoe brand names.

In 2006, Harrah’s nearly distributed $76.8 million, at an average $1.5 million per week in community contributions. The company primarily is focused on building brand loyalty and value with its customers through superior service, high quality products, unparalleled distribution, and technology leadership.
