2006 World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table

In the 2006 WSOP Main Event, 9 celebrities have made to the final table to battle out each other in a quest to win the poker's most coveted event, the WSOP Championship Bracelet and also a whopping amount of $12 million. Jamie Gold who was spreading the way and the chip leader since day 3 sustained to show his mettle and variations in his play and eventually walked away with the crown.

But remember, Gold needs to endure and play the field overtaking almost 8500 players to win the event. Both the players shuffled the pre-flop, and Paul Wasicka bet out on 1.5 million. Then, strangely what Jamie Gold did was he moved all-in. This made the event even more interesting.

Gold was literally betting on each and every flop coming his way, and sent some strong signals of winning that night. While Jamie was really getting restless with his itchy looked at his opponent and moving his head all over the place. Wasicka on the other hand was really thinking for a long time and remained tranquil.

Tension was really creeping in the famous Amazon Room, which was hosting this event. Finally, Wasicka made his mind to call and literally flipped over 10 hearts and 10 spades. Immediately, Jamie Jumped up in ecstasy. His Joy knew no boundaries and he punched his fist in the air. He was exhilarated and he was very quick to flip over Q spade and 9 clubs for a pair of Queens. The turn came Ace diamond, which almost marked the victory for the deal with 4 clubs. This sent the mammoth crowd into frenzy as Gold cuddled the centre stage.

Gold sneaked through with a big chip lead. Also, his basic strategy was pretty simple and plain i.e. to bet the flop and he did exactly the same. Paul Wasicka had absolutely no chance whatsoever. He finished second, sponsored by 888. Michael Binger was one of the 2 players who were left out. Initially, Binger also initiated a large bet, but Gold moved all-in. Binger was eventually knocked down where Wasicka had an outside chance against Gold.

This was mainly because of the chip lead he had. Jamie Gold snared the $12 million and was adjudged as the winner of 2006 WSOP. He knocked down 8 opponents before sneaking through. Of course, Gold had his share of luck, which one needs to win the title but showed tremendous promise of being a seasoned campaigner with his well-timed bluffs. Wasicka finished 2nd with $6,102,499.
